Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nanton Constituency have formally petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, calling for the immediate removal of the District Chief Executive, Abdul-Rahaman Rosina Zenabu. The petition, signed by members of the Constituency Executive Committee, accuses the DCE of gross misconduct, anti-party activities, and actions they say threaten the party’s electoral fortunes ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to the petitioners, Hon. Rosina’s short tenure has become “the most significant threat to the cohesion of the party, the reputation of the government, and the NDC’s chances in the upcoming polls.”
They outline several allegations, beginning with the diversion of over 600 bags of subsidized fertilizer under the Savannah Agriculture Value Chain Development Project. The executives claim the fertilizer, meant for farmers in the district, was sold to private retailers for personal gain—a situation they describe as corruption and a betrayal of party values.
The DCE is also accused of disrespecting traditional rulers, particularly at the Tampion and Nyolugu Palaces, which the party considers strongholds. The petition alleges that the DCE and her spouse made offensive remarks toward traditional authorities, straining longstanding relationships.
Another major concern raised is the sale of free apprenticeship forms, which were expected to be distributed at no cost under a government employment initiative. The forms were reportedly sold for between 20 and 50 cedis—an act the executives say exploits the youth and damages the party’s image.
The petition further accuses the DCE of creating division between the MP and district assembly, by separating developmental projects into “MP’s projects” and “DCE’s projects” in public gatherings. They argue that this fuels unnecessary rivalry and exposes internal disagreements.
Executives also cite consistent disregard for constituency leaders and foot soldiers, alleging that the DCE withholds information, avoids consultation, and sidelines party structures that are crucial to electoral mobilization.

On procurement issues, the petition alleges a lack of transparency in contract awards, including alleged inflation in the cost of renovating the District Assembly office—reported to be around 840,000 cedis. They claim that only contractors aligned with the DCE benefit from such awards.
The executives also accuse Hon. Rosina of appointing individuals outside the constituency, including known NPP supporters, to manage DRIP equipment operations—despite earlier recommendations from the MP and party executives.
They warn that these actions have deepened divisions and weakened party cohesion in the constituency.
The petitioners are therefore appealing to the President to remove the DCE immediately and to institute an internal investigation into the allegations. They also request the appointment of a new DCE “of unquestionable integrity, a unifier, and one committed to strengthening the NDC in Nanton.”
The petition has been copied to the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the national and regional party secretariats, and the Member of Parliament for Nanton.
