Transfer more than 7 years staff of TTH to salvage the hospital-CCAT

The Concern Citizens Association of Tamale (CCAT) has called for dissolution of the board, a full scale investigation into recent neurosurgical unit equipment theft at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

The association further called for the resignation of TTH CEO and all staff who has served for more than seven years to be transferred without any further delay, and a strong resolution at instilling discipline in the hospital’s administration by the hospital administration.

This, CCAT believed will salvage the TTH and inspire confidence in the general public. The concern citizen’s calls come in the wake of what they describe as misconduct, rot and savagery against the citizens of Tamale and the northern region as whole leading to stilling of consumables.

CCAT said the theft issue has reached an alarming proportion and that the hospital administration must stopped it now.

The association said their fears is further heightened by sources within the hospital  indicating that, some unscrupulous  staff are bent looting vital supplies meant to enhance proper functioning of the TTH.

It will be recall that the daily graphic of Thursday May,30 2013 carried a story captioned;” Work stalls at Tamale Teaching Hospital Neurosurgical unit following theft of equipment’’.

In the said publication, the Chief Executive Officer of the TTH, Dr Ken Sagoe was reported to have expressed concern about the high rate at which consumables and other equipment were being stolen.

CCAT said reports of such improper conduct at the hospital administration according to their information have always being swept under the carpet. This was contained in a statement issued in Tamale and signed by concern citizens of Tamale president Basharu Dabali.

The statement said the only time punitive action against some culprits was when the informant in the case of off loading TTH oxygen cylinder from a pick- cup track to a way side vulganizer.

It said even though the hospital authorities may have reported the matter to police, they are not enthused with such move describing it as cosmetic and yet another blatant attempts to sweep the issue under the carpet.

The statement said government efforts in providing TTH fine edifice to befit the status of the hospital will come to naught if certain elements within the rank and file of hospital are allow continuing with their predatory actions against the collective good for the people of the north if certain elements within the rank and file of hospital are allow to continue with their predatory actions against the collective good for the people of the north.
