MultiChoice Ghana has expressed concern over recent comments made by the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, regarding the pricing of DStv services in the country.
In a media statement issued on Saturday, MultiChoice described the Minister’s position as “regrettable,” particularly in light of what the company says have been ongoing, good-faith efforts to engage with both the Minister and the National Communications Authority (NCA) on the matter.
“We have made a proposal to the Honourable Minister and the NCA for alternative further engagement. It is unfortunate that this stance has been taken despite our willingness to work collaboratively toward a resolution,” the statement read.

The company emphasized its three-decade presence in Ghana and its impact on the livelihoods of its workforce and distribution partners, including employees, contract staff, dealers, installers, agents, and retailers.
MultiChoice reaffirmed its commitment to keeping DStv subscription fees as low as possible, stating that it continues to operate under “extremely challenging competitive and macro-economic conditions” while striving to maintain quality service and customer choice.
While acknowledging the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi, MultiChoice pushed back against what it described as the Minister’s proposed method for pricing reduction.
“We have never referred to the Cedi’s appreciation as a ‘fluke,’ but it is not tenable to reduce subscription fees in the manner proposed by the Minister,” the company said.
MultiChoice added that it remains committed to engaging constructively with the Minister and the NCA and reiterates its intent to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Ghana.
The statement was signed by Mr. Alex Okyere, Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana.
