Make good use of the Internet- MTN ye’llo care team advises SHS students

The Ye’llo care team of MTN Ghana has advised senior high school students in the northern region to make good use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance their knowledge.

According to the team, the current crop of students at the various SHS’ is fortunate that ICT has made learning easy through the Internet. The Ye’llo care team gave the advice when they took turns to address students of Savelugu Senior High School (SAVESS), after installing a DSTV with a 40 inch LED Samsung TV at the school’s ICT laboratory in the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality.

Students were also entreated to use the Internet to research on courses and career prospects on what they want to be in future. The installation forms part of the MTN Ye’llo care program which is focusing this year on enriching and investing in education in Ghana.

The program which has been in existence for over ten years is providing and refurbishing ICT centers and other educational structures in some selected senior high schools in the country.

Speaking to Zaa News in Savelugu, Mr Moomen Tawfiq, the Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana, explained that the main aim of the program was to give back to communities the network ability do their business.

The communication giant, Mr Tawfiq said is partnering with the Ghana Education Service and Dstv to provide what it terms educational Bourque packages to aid students in practical teaching and learning. He also announced the launch of MTN 4G service which has more Internet speed than the current 3G.

Over 300 sites including Savelugu, according to Mr. Tawfiq, are already set awaiting Tuesday nationwide 4G launch.The move, he said, forms part of MTN’s commitment to  digitalizing alls aspect of human life.

The Assistant headmaster in charge of administration at the school, Mr. Timothy Tia Tampuli, on behalf the head master, thanked MTN Ghana for their support and appealed to others to assist the school.

According to Mr Tampuli, the over 2000 students have been struggling with only 17 functioning computers and appealed for more computers and a bigger laboratory.
The MTN support, he explained will enable students to listen to news and also enable them watch entertainment programs such as football matches.
