Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency donates medical equipment to Gbalahi and Ward K Health Centers
The Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency has donated medical equipment to the Gbalahi and Ward K Health Centres. The equipment worth over 2,700 Ghana Cedis is to assist in improving access to quality healthcare services in the Sagnarigu Municipality.
The equipment include forceps for dressing, delivery set, drip stand, examination beds, baby weighing scale and pans, table top fridges, autoclave, clinical thermometers, instrument scale, towels, benches, sphygmomanometer among others. During a brief ceremony to handover the donated equipment to the Sagnarigu Health Directorate, Alhaj Suhuyini said the donation is in response to a calls by the Municipal Health Director and elders of the two communities on the need to provide logistics to the clinics.
He noted that electricity and water, another challenges of the clinics have also been provided to facilitate the smooth running of the facilities. Alhaji Suhuyini is hopeful that the equipment will be put to good use, stressing that, when that happens, it will encourage him and others to continue to come to the aid of the communities.
“Today we gathered here at Gbalahi to respond to a request from the health directorate under the Sagnarigu Municipal. We are by the grace of God contacted a non-governmental organization, Qatar Charity. And they assisted us to construct two (2) clinics in our constituency last year. One of those clinics is situated here at Gbalahi. Unfortunately after the project, it was revealed to me that source of electricity was that far that the contractor could not connect the facility to the source of electricity. So I had to intervene to provide the electricity to the clinic. I have since also provided a water tank for the facility so that they can some water to run the facility”, Alhaji Suhuyini said.
The Municipal Health Director, George Abraham underscored the importance of the equipment provided, noting that it “would have taken them a long time to get all these equipment. He assured the Tamale North legislator the equipment will be put to good use.
