The Paramount Chief of Bulpei, Bulpei Wura Abdulai Jinapor II, has paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Highness the Ndan Yaa Naa, at the Gbewaa Palace to formally brief him on three major development projects aimed at boosting economic growth and regional integration in Northern Ghana.
The visit, which was attended by elders of the Dagbon Traditional Council, formed part of efforts by the Bulpei Wura to seek royal blessings and support for initiatives focused on youth empowerment, agricultural development, and cross-border trade.
Addressing the Ndan Yaa Naa, Bulpei Wura Abdulai Jinapor II said the projects were designed to create employment opportunities, enhance food security, and position Northern Ghana as a strategic hub for intercontinental trade.
“Your Royal Highness, I am here to officially inform you about three cardinal projects I am undertaking for the benefit of our people,” he stated. “These initiatives are meant to create jobs for our youth, strengthen agriculture, and open up new economic opportunities for Northern Ghana.”
The Paramount Chief disclosed that one of the key initiatives is the establishment of Savannah Farms, a large-scale agricultural venture expected to focus on modern farming, value addition, and agribusiness development across the savannah belt.
“Through the Savannah Farms project, we want to turn our vast arable lands into sources of wealth and employment,” he explained. “Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy, and it is time we modernise it to improve livelihoods.”

Bulpei Wura Abdulai Jinapor II further announced plans to launch a North African Intercontinental Trade Pact on April 14, involving five African countries—Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, and cote d’ivoire. The initiative, he said, is aimed at strengthening commercial ties among participating countries, beginning with Ghana and Nigeria, and gradually expanding across the continent.
“We are also looking beyond our borders,” he noted. “This trade initiative will open new markets for our farmers and traders, promote African-to-African trade, and deepen economic cooperation within the sub-region.”
As a symbol of loyalty and unity, the Bulpei Wura presented an elephant tusk to the Ndaan Yaan Naa, describing the gesture as a sign of respect and solidarity among traditional rulers in Northern Ghana.
“This elephant tusk represents hope, unity, and strength,” he said. “It signifies our unwavering respect for the Dagbon skin and our commitment to working together for peace and development.”
Receiving the delegation, the Ndaan Yaan Naa expressed gratitude to the Bulpei Wura for the visit and commended him for his development-oriented vision. He encouraged traditional leaders to continue initiating projects that complement government efforts and contribute to peace, unity, and socio-economic progress in the region.
The visit ended with traditional prayers for continued harmony, prosperity, and sustainable development in Dagbon and the wider Northern Region.
