The Country Director of Children Believe, Esenam Kavi De Sousa, has called on stakeholders in the North East Region to take urgent action to protect children from child marriage and migration-related risks. Speaking at the organization’s annual Child Protection Forum in Nalerigu, she emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to safeguard children’s rights and well-being.
Children Believe, a child-focused organization, reaffirmed its commitment to child safety and well-being at the event, which brought together stakeholders, parents, teachers, and schoolchildren to discuss pressing issues related to child protection and welfare.
The forum featured presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at promoting child safety and well-being. Participants shared experiences, best practices, and strategies for preventing child abuse and neglect.

Madam De Sousa highlighted child marriage as a critical issue that must be addressed. She emphasized that migration to urban areas in search of greener pastures poses significant dangers for children, especially girls, who may be vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.
She underscored the importance of raising awareness and taking action to protect children from child marriage and migration-related risks. She made a heartfelt appeal to the North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, urging him to ensure peace and stability in the region. She stressed that peace is a prerequisite for the sustainability of the organization’s programs, which aim to improve the lives of children and families.
She lamented that Children Believe cannot effectively implement its programs in an environment of conflict and violence. Therefore, she called on the Honorable Minister, as Chairman of the North East Regional Security Council (RECSEC), to work towards ensuring peace and stability so that the organization can continue to support society’s most vulnerable members.
In response, the North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia emphasized that protecting children is a collective responsibility that requires immediate action. He highlighted the need for collaboration among stakeholders, government agencies, and parents to safeguard children from harm and exploitation. He stated that a united approach would create a safer and more supportive environment for children to thrive.
Among the beneficiaries of Children Believe’s programs are schools such as Namasim Primary and Wundua Junior High, which are part of the Child and Family Affairs Movement (CFAM) Clubs in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region.
