During the visit, the Minister outlined government initiatives aimed at addressing youth unemployment by ensuring students have access to job opportunities after completing their education. “Good leadership is not only about providing education but also ensuring employment opportunities for the youth,” he emphasized.

Hon. Iddrisu also briefed the King about the 6.5 billion Ghana cedis debt inherited from the previous administration but reassured him of the government’s commitment to stabilizing and improving the education sector.

In response, the King of Dagbon urged the Minister to prioritize the Yendi water project and support the establishment of a University for Development Studies (UDS) campus in Yendi. He also called for the completion of numerous development projects initiated by previous governments. “It is essential that we complete these projects to benefit our people,” the King stated.

Hon. Iddrisu assured the King of his commitment to working closely with President John Dramani Mahama to address these concerns and ensure the successful implementation of key projects in Dagbon.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Minister has received congratulations from various organizations, including School for Life, a leading civil society group focused on improving educational access and quality in Ghana.
