Former President John Dramani Mahama has pledged his support to help Ghana Senior High School, GHANASCO, venture into poultry and livestock farming as part of efforts to enhance practical skills training for students.

Addressing the school’s 65th anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 22, 2025, the former president—who is also an alumnus of GHANASCO—said the initiative would not only build student capacity but also enable the school to produce its own food instead of relying on the open market.

Mr. Mahama also emphasized the urgent need to expand both staff and student accommodation to elevate GHANASCO to a fully recognized Category A school.

According to him, upgrading educational infrastructure remains essential in improving teaching and learning outcomes across the country.

On the persistent water challenges in the Northern Region, President Mahama assured that construction works on the Tamale Water Project will begin next year.
He added that work on the Damongo–Tamale water station, including a new pumping station, will also commence, expressing confidence that the region’s annual water shortages will soon be addressed.

Also present at the ceremony was the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, who commended GHANASCO for producing outstanding alumni—including President Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.
