The National Chair of the Ahlus Sunnah Youth Advisory Council and Leader of the Darul Tawheed Institute in Tamale, Sheikh Dr. Abu Dujana Ibn Basha, has called for peaceful coexistence between Dagombas and Konkombas in the Zabzugu District of the Northern Region.
His peace advocacy follows a recent violent clash between the two ethnic groups, which resulted in the loss of one life and the destruction of properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
Speaking during a visit to the area, Sheikh Dr. Abu Dujana urged residents to embrace tolerance and unity in order to foster development. His visit comes amid heightened tensions in the communities of Zabzugu and Nanyando following the murder of a farmer, Alhassan Mumuni, at Nanyando last month by an unknown assailant.

“We came to an agreement that the only way forward is through an intensive peace campaign, preaching the words of Allah and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, which emphasize peace,” Sheikh Dr. Abu Dujana stated.
At a gathering held at the Yelzoli Palace, the Chief of Nanyando and the Grand Regent of Zabzugu pledged to work towards lasting peace in the area. The Grand Regent, while addressing the community, called for forgiveness and reconciliation.
“What God bestowed on our son, if not destiny, nothing would have happened to him. He died as an ambassador of peace, willing to save a life but losing his. We are handing everything over to Almighty Allah. We appeal to our Konkomba brothers to stop taking the law into their own hands. The era of using violence to claim land has passed; let us dialogue instead of fighting,” the Grand Regent emphasized.
The Konkomba Chief Imam, Sheikh Umar Faruk, reinforced the need for peaceful coexistence, stating that the bond between Dagombas and Konkombas is natural and inseparable.
“Dagombas and Konkombas were created to live together, and there is a reason for that. No one can separate our existence; that’s how Allah made it,” Sheikh Umar Faruk said.
As part of his peace mission, Sheikh Dr. Abu Dujana Ibn Basha visited the family of the deceased farmer and made a donation on behalf of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.
Residents hope that these peace efforts will ease tensions and bring an end to the cycle of violence in the area.
