TURKIYE DIYANET FOUNDATION DONATES OVER 1,000 SLAUGHTERED COWS TO 20,000 NEEDY FAMILIES IN GHANA

The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, in collaboration with the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Turkish Embassy in Ghana, has once again sustained its annual Eid-ul-Adha sacrifice program by donating over 1,000 slaughtered cows to more than 20,000 vulnerable and needy Muslim families across Ghana.

This year’s distribution exercise covered various locations, including Yendi, Tamale, Damongo, Dodowa, and the National Mosque at Kanda in Accra. The initiative aimed to serve deprived communities, particularly those along the Eastern Corridor and in the Savanna Region.

At the National Mosque in Kanda, the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Hüseyin Güngör, personally took part in the symbolic handing over of meat to beneficiaries. The nationwide exercise was carried out through local partners of the Diyanet Foundation — including Taimako and Blessings Organisation (Adenta), Human Development Association International (HUDAI), and Savanna Dignity (Damongo).

A representative of the foundation, Sheikh Ahmed, who supervised activities in Yendi, expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation received from local stakeholders.

“Yendi has proven to be a vital center for our sacrificial activities. The area is home to some of the most vulnerable communities along the Eastern Corridor. We hope to sustain the slaughtering center here in the coming years,” he said.

In the Kumbungu District, the Assembly Member for Gupanarigu Electoral Area and a key volunteer of the Diyanet Foundation, Hon. Baba Iddrisu Neindow, extended his heartfelt appreciation to the President of Turkey, Ambassador Hüseyin Güngör, Imam Ali (Director of Social Affairs at the Turkish Embassy), and global donors of the foundation.

“This gesture has placed meat on the plates of over 10,000 poor families this Eid season — families who otherwise could not afford to buy even a single cow,” he stated.

Hon. Neindow also commended the foundation’s local partners — Taimako and Blessings Organisation, HUDAI, and Savanna Dignity — for their instrumental role in identifying and supporting needy families during the implementation of the 2025 Eid-ul-Adha cow sacrifice project.

The initiative is one of many charitable efforts led by the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation to promote Islamic solidarity and support for underprivileged communities globally during the sacred festival of sacrifice.
