Forestry Commission Hails Advans Ghana’s Tree-Planting Initiative

The Forestry Commission has commended Advans Ghana for its commitment towards replenishing Ghana’s depleting forest cover. The commission said Advans Ghana’s tree-planting initiative, themed “Greening Ghana: Growing for a Greener Tomorrow,” has yielded positive results with a remarkable survival rate.

Over 1000 seedlings of Acacia, teak, shea, trees among others species have been planted in Zuggu in the Northern region and Accra with about 90% survival rate achieved. The initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with the Forestry Commission and volunteers from host communities. The tree-planting exercise aims to mitigate the effects of climate change, promote environmental sustainability, and support the government’s Green Ghana initiative. The company’s efforts are part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Speaking to Zaa News on the sidelines of the tree planting exercise, the Forest Range Manager of the Tamale Forest District, Raymond Abaare, commended Advans Ghana for the initiative and pledged that the commission will put in place protection mechanisms to ensure the safety of the plants.

Chief Business Development Officer at Advans Ghana Seth Micah Nunoo reiterated the company’s commitment to offset their paper consumption and promote environmental sustainability. He said the company used about 112 rims of paper which is equivalent to seven trees and observed the need to plant to replace those used in paper, particularly A4 rims. 

Head of Branding and Communications at Advans Ghana Adeline Esi Sutherland, said while the company’s core work revolves around financial empowerment, it believes that true progress is holistic. She, noted that the tree planting initiative underscores their commitment to creating thriving ecosystems not only economically, but ecologically. She said by planting trees, the company aim to contribute to climate action, improve air quality, and promote environmental stewardship, which ultimately supports the resilience of the clients and communities.

 Mrs. Esi stressed that ‘Advans Ghana, is guided by values such as client centeredness, and innovation and this environmental initiative reflects our long-term vision of being a responsible financial partner, not just in profits, but in purpose’.

Chief Human Resource Officer at Advans Ghana Yaa Birago Ofori-Addo called on other cooperate organizations to integrate environmental sustainability into their operations strengthens their brand, builds trust, and ensure long-term viability. She said ‘at Advans Ghana, we have seen how even small steps like planting a tree can make a lasting difference. We encourage others to join us in building a greener, more responsible future’.
