Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Gushegu, Mr Issah Musah has said government Planting for Jobs(PFJ) has contributed significantly in food production in the area.
Government commitment in agricultural sector is gear towards reducing hunger and alleviating poverty among farmers.
According to the Gushegu MCE, about 5, 299 farmers benefited from subsidized agricultural inputs including fertilizerand improved seeds this year.
Addressing the people during the Assembly’s turn of the meet the press, Mr Musah announced that the Assembly took delivery of 300 small ruminants for farmers.
On 1 village 1dam, the MCE revealed that 6 out of 10 allocated to Municipality have been completed and work on the remaining 4 will start during this dry season.
The completed dams includes Kpatinga, Bogu-Kambonaayili, Nalogu, Waawu, Bilisinga and Nangbam.
Touching on roads, the MCE assured the people that contractors will soon begin on Tamale-Gushegu road and other feeders within the Municipality.
The Surest way to developed Gushegu Municipality he noted is through education and therefore the assembly prioritized education.
A number of schools blocks he said has been constructed and provided dual desk.
Forty-eight students he said have benefited from the government scholarships secretariat and their fees will fully paid to the various tertiary institutions.
On employment, 52 young people were recruited into Community Police Assistant model of NYA whiles 153 forestry Guarda have also recruited.
The Municipality he added had 295 youth being engaged under the Nation Builders Corps(NABCO).
Rural electrification
On electricity, the Gushegu MCE said a request have been submitted to energy ministry for the supply the supply of 10 No. 100 KVA transformers for connection of the communities.
He believes the electrification in the communities will ultimately improve on local development and reduce poverty in the Municipality.
The assembly he assured was committed in completing all ongoing projects in the Municipality.
Leligu, Borkina, Gomanayili and parts of Nabuli-Nakohinayili have been connected to the national grid whilst work on Limo project steadily progressing, Mr Musah stated.
Water expansion
The World Bank support Water expansion project within the Municipality the MCE assured is progressively ongoing with 90% completed laying of pipes have with construction of water reservoir on ongoing.
He pleaded with the people to come out in their numbers and vote yes in December 17 referendum for the adment of article 55(3) which will be preceded by the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDCES
