Hajj Taskforce Rebuts Claims of Poor Conditions: Assures Ghanaians of Pilgrims’ Comfort in Mecca

The National Hajj Taskforce has dismissed claims circulating on social media and other platforms suggesting that Ghanaian pilgrims are facing harsh conditions during this year’s pilgrimage in Mecca. The Taskforce has clarified that despite an earlier reduction in the Hajj fare to ₵62,000, the quality of services provided to pilgrims remains uncompromised.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Taskforce, Chairman Alhaji Collins Dauda and Cooperation Head Hon. Alhaj A.B.A. Fuseini emphasized that the fare adjustment was made months ago and was the result of strategic cost-efficiency measures—not a trade-off in service quality.

“There is no truth to suggestions that pilgrims are suffering or being neglected due to the reduced fare,” the Taskforce stated. “We are compelled to address this misinformation and reassure the Ghanaian public that every pilgrim continues to receive dignified, safe, and quality care throughout their spiritual journey.”

The leadership cited ongoing support systems in place for Ghanaian pilgrims, including fully air-conditioned accommodations, access to nutritious meals, reliable internal transport, and dedicated healthcare services—all coordinated to meet international standards.

The statement also highlighted the presence of a skilled and responsive support team on the ground in Saudi Arabia, working around the clock to ensure the spiritual and physical well-being of pilgrims.

“This fare reduction was a result of careful planning, prudent financial management, and effective negotiations with our partners—not at the expense of pilgrim welfare,” the statement noted.

The Taskforce’s remarks come amid growing concern sparked by viral images and voice notes suggesting substandard conditions for some Ghanaian pilgrims. Officials say these portrayals are misleading and do not reflect the structured and well-resourced systems in place.

“We urge the public to rely on verified sources for information and not to fall for false narratives that seek to undermine the work being done to ensure a successful Hajj,” the Taskforce said.

The leadership concluded by expressing gratitude to the government of Ghana, stakeholders, and partners who have contributed to the successful organization of the 2025 pilgrimage, and prayed for a safe and spiritually rewarding journey for all Ghanaian pilgrims.
