As the World celebrates World Tourism Day, an Executive Director of Tourism Society of Ghana (TOSOGHA) Joseph Amarh Amartey has advised industry players to partner other institutions to revive their businesses.

According to him, partnership is one of the ways businesses can strive. He indicates that the covid-19 pandemic has affected the sector greatly leading to the closure of about 82 hotels in 2020 which has since been re-opened.  He also encouraged industry players to use technology to sell their products and services.

Mr. Amartey said this in an interview with Zaa news. The 2021 World Tourism Day which is celebrated every September 27 around the world seeks to showcase the tourism sector’s unique ability to drive economic development, preserve and promote culture and heritage as well as to provide opportunity for all. The theme for World Tourism Day 2021 is ‘’Tourism for Inclusive Growth’’.

Commenting on the theme Mr Amartey noted unlocking the potential of the tourism eco-system, its extensive value chain and investments facilitation in tourism, can deliver more inclusive and sustainable growth in traditionally marginalized communities with huge tourism and other resources.

When asked how TOSOGHA intends to improve domestic tourism, Mr Amartey noted it is a shared responsibility of the entire citizens, but encouraged Ghanaians to patronize the sector to generate income for the growth of the country’s economy. He said until citizens visit domestic tourist sites there cannot be improvement in the sector.
