The local organizing committee of the World Shea Expo has announced plans for the upcoming event, scheduled for September 2-4.
The expo, under the auspices of the Presidential Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness, is expected to attract over 8,000 participants from the shea value chain.
The theme of the expo is “Empowering Women and Youth-Led SMEs in the Shea Value Chain.” The event aims to bring together policymakers, financial institutions, innovators, private sector leaders, civil society organizations, and cooperatives to advance practical pathways to scale up investment in the sector.
“The expo is not just a celebration of the remarkable tree and its fruits, but a strong attestation of economic transformation, cultural heritage, and sustainable development opportunities that the shea sector holds,” said Professor Abukari Alhassan, Chairman of the local organizing committee.

The expo is expected to generate decent jobs to support the government’s 24-hour economy policy, enhance rural livelihoods, generate export earnings and contribute to the collective green-growth agenda
The Northern Regional Manager of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) warned that the export of raw nuts is hindering the production of shea butter in Northern Ghana.
The Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa, Coffee, and Shea Nut Farmers Association (COCOSHE) Alhaji Imoro Issifu Alhassan also highlighted the potential of shea to complement cocoa production in the future.
He mentioned Bono, Bono East, Oti stretching through into deep into Volta region as new areas the new discovery has been made.
