Kowrli, Zabzugu District – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Zabzugu, Hon. George Lakoba Tanie, on Tuesday led a delegation including the District Police Commander to inspect the long-abandoned Kowrli Police Station project, signaling a renewed commitment to completing the vital security infrastructure.
The project, which was initiated in 2016 under the then-NDC administration and later continued under the current NPP government, has suffered years of neglect.
However, the newly appointed DCE has vowed to bring it to completion, fulfilling what he described as “a dream started by the NDC government to improve security in the Kowrli Traditional Area.”

Hon. Lakoba Tanie emphasized the importance of the project to the safety and development of the area, pledging his administration’s support to ensure it becomes operational as soon as possible.
After the inspection, the DCE paid courtesy calls on some traditional leaders in the area, including the Kowrli-Naa, Naa Nyab Gburugu-Lana, and the Vokpee Naa. In his engagements, he emphasized the need for peace and unity, describing them as essential ingredients for development.
“Peace is the foundation upon which progress is built,” he stated, urging the chiefs to stay focused on their responsibility of promoting the welfare of their people and to avoid actions that could destabilize the area.
Hon. Lakoba Tanie also assured the chiefs and residents that Kowrli would not be sidelined in the district’s development agenda. “You will not be left out of the national cake when it is being shared at the district level,” he pledged.
The visit and renewed commitment to the Kowrli Police Station project have been warmly received by community members who have long awaited the presence of a permanent security post in the area.
