Zabzugu Town Development Association bans speeding, late movement of students and Fulani’s at odd hours
The Zabzugu Town Development Association, has outlined stringent measures to ensure discipline among young people and school children in the area. To this end, a volunteer taskforce has been formed with support from all stakeholders and blessed by the paramount chief of Yelzoli to check all anti-social vices including over speeding in town and late hours movement.
Weekly jams or night clubs on every Saturday, Sunday and market day night has been banned with immediate effect while late movement of Fulani herdsmen also limited to at least 10pm.
Pre-outdooring or weeding ceremony dance or gathering should be seized unless the D-Day. The sanctioned volunteer taskforce, the association said will ensure that movement of students and teenagers at odd hours in town will no longer be tolerated.
At a meeting attended by representative from each area and the district police commander in the Yelzoli Lana palace, the leadership of the association briefed the chief and his elders about the measures put in place to instill discipline.
Chairman of the association, Naafu-Naa Muktar Mohammed Hussein reiterated that anybody found with or in possession of illicit drugs such as tramadol will be arrested and hand over to the police.
The volunteer taskforce he added has right to search any luggage they suspect it contains illegal drugs of any kind into Zabzugu. The chairman told the people that going to political party chairmen, religious leaders, assembly members and traditional leaders to plead for leniency will not to be accepted because the growing indiscipline among young people was a serious concerned for all.
Secretary to the Yelzoli Lana, Alhaji Umar Salifu told the people, especially landlords and sub chiefs to ensure that all places where young people suspected to be engaging in anti-social vices practiced are dismantled.
The chief of Fulanis in Zabzugu who was present at the meeting lauded the decision of the association to help improve security situation in the area and pledged his support.
The decision, the chief added will bring peace assuring that all Fulanis within his jurisdiction will be informed. ‘As Fulani’s chief I will also caution them against their odd hours movement because every crime committed is attributed or blamed on Fulanis’, the chief assured.
