The CEO of GIFEC and Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Rashid Sofo-Tanko, popularly known as Computer, has hinted at the party’s determination to aggressively target parliamentary seats currently held by what he describes as “disturbing” Members of Parliament (MPs) on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) minority side.

‎‎Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, Mr. Tanko stated that the NPP risks losing more parliamentary seats in the next elections due to the conduct and posture of some of its MPs in the current Parliament.‎‎

“What I’m plotting is that all the seats the NPP is currently occupying—my eyes are on them. I’m serious and strategizing to reduce their numbers because they are disturbing a lot in Parliament,” he noted.‎‎‎

According to him, the NDC’s numerical strength in Parliament is not intended to intimidate citizens, emphasizing that the party conducts itself more responsibly than the NPP.‎‎

“Our numbers are not to intimidate Ghanaians. If we were like them, we would have used our numbers to intimidate people—but we are not like the NPP. The President is a father for all, and the Speaker of Parliament is down to earth. We are not like them,” he stressed.‎‎‎

On whether he harbors personal ambitions to contest the Bimbila parliamentary seat, Mr. Tanko said he has not considered that option at the moment. However, he expressed confidence that the NDC will recapture the seat from the NPP in the 2028 general elections.‎‎

“What I’m saying is that in 2028, the NPP will lose the Bimbila seat to the NDC,” he predicted.‎‎‎

Reflecting on the 2024 general elections, the NDC Deputy Director of Elections and IT argued that the party confronted more than a single opponent.‎‎

“We went into the 2024 general elections with two opponents in mind: first, the Electoral Commission, and second, the NPP,” he claimed.‎‎‎‎
