The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Honourable Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam a.k.a King Salam, today paid a courtesy call on the King of Dagbon, Ndan Yaan-Naa Abubakari II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, Northern Region.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam aimed to show appreciation for the King’s enduring support for the NLA, particularly during and after the recent national elections. Accompanied by his team, King Salam used the occasion to strengthen ties with the traditional leadership of Dagbon and reaffirm the Authority’s commitment to community development.

In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, the NLA boss pledged a donation of GH¢50,000 towards the construction of a new Gbewaa Palace—a major cultural and historical project that holds deep significance for the Dagbon people.

The Overlord of Dagbon warmly welcomed the delegation and commended King Salam for the visit and his donation. Offering words of wisdom, Ndan Yaan-Naa Abubakari II urged the Director-General to remain resilient and committed to national service, regardless of external criticisms.

“Leadership is not without its trials,” the King noted. “There will always be perceptions and challenges, but the priority must always be the well-being of the people.”

The visit underscores growing efforts by public institutions to engage with traditional authorities as partners in development and governance. It also highlights the NLA’s intent to deepen its corporate social responsibility footprint in northern Ghana
