The Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe, Esq., has intensified efforts to attract national support for developmental projects in his region, – Savannah Region- holding strategic meetings in Accra with key institutions as part of day four of his ongoing regional development tour.
The Minister’s first engagement was with the Acting Executive Director of the VALCO Trust Fund. He appealed for support in addressing the severe infrastructure deficit in the education sector of the Savannah Region. His request included furniture, classroom blocks, and hostel facilities to improve conditions in schools. In response, the VALCO Trust Fund pledged its support, disclosing plans for the construction of multi-purpose libraries nationwide, with the Savannah Region identified as a beneficiary.
Hon. Be-Awuribe also met with the leadership of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Directorate, where he advocated for the integration of existing technical and vocational institutions in the region under the TVET umbrella. He presented a proposal for the establishment of new technical training centres in several communities, including Salaga, Abrumasey, Mankarigu, Yapei, Kusawgu, Chama, Kpalbe, and Tuna.

The Minister further held discussions with the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Scholarship Secretariat, focusing on improving access to financial assistance for students from the region. He emphasized the need to enhance educational equity through increased scholarship allocations and timely disbursements.
Later, the Minister met with the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Employment Authority (YEA). During the meeting, he commended the Authority for revitalizing youth employment initiatives and urged the reactivation of programmes that had stalled due to past administrative challenges. The YEA CEO assured the Minister of upcoming projects designed to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people in the region.
The Minister’s tour forms part of a broader strategy to attract investment and development to the Savannah Region. It continues in the coming days with further engagements aimed at tackling long-standing social and economic challenges.
