Tamale, June 12, 2025 — The Office of the Northern Regional Minister has issued a firm public disclaimer following reports that fraudsters are exploiting the name of the Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John Mbrudiba, to promise jobs and financial incentives to unsuspecting citizens via phone calls and social media, particularly on Facebook.

In a notice released on Wednesday, the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) warned the public against engaging with individuals who claim to represent the Regional Minister or the Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for job placements or monetary benefits.

“The Hon. Regional Minister does not give jobs or money to people through the stated platforms,” the statement said, describing such offers as fraudulent and dangerous.

The announcement, signed by Nicholas Lijanyanle Yombei, Special Aide to the Regional Minister, urged citizens to be vigilant and to refrain from sharing personal information or engaging with individuals making such false claims. It further emphasized that any impersonation of the Minister or misuse of his name constitutes a criminal offense and will be prosecuted accordingly.

“We urge everyone to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities,” the statement added. “The use of the Regional Minister’s name or reputation to mislead or defraud individuals is illegal, and anyone who does so shall be handed over to law enforcement agencies when found out.”

The disclaimer comes amid growing concerns over the rise of online and phone-based scams across the country, where public figures are increasingly being impersonated to gain the trust of victims.

The Office of the Regional Minister reiterated its commitment to transparency and lawful public service delivery and encouraged the public to seek official information only through verified government channels.

Members of the public with concerns or leads regarding such impersonation attempts are encouraged to report them to the police or the NRCC.
