The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken another step toward revamping youth football, appointing Alhaji Baba Osman Daney as Chairman of its newly formed U16 Boys Management Committee.

Alhaji Daney is no stranger to football or leadership. He is the President of Division One League newcomers Sankara Nationals FC and also serves as Director of Finance at the National Youth Authority. His mix of football passion and administrative expertise, the GFA believes, makes him the right man to help nurture the country’s next generation of stars.

Clearly excited about the appointment, Alhaji Daney took to Facebook to thank GFA President Kurt Okraku: “I am honored and blessed. Most grateful to the President of the Ghana Football Association for the confidence reposed in me. Long live Ghana Football Association. Long live President Kurt.”

He will be supported by Gabriel Godwin Kwao, Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, who comes in as Vice Chairman of the committee.

Also joining the team are familiar names in Ghana’s football circles: Masawudu Ahmed, President of Ebony FC, Kweku Sagoe, Head of Marketing at Nsuopon Fidelity FC and Siaka Musah, President of Dormaa Unity FC

The committee’s job is a big one—scouting young talent, running development programs, and making sure U16 competitions are well-organized. The ultimate goal is clear: to build a solid pipeline of talent for the Black Starlets and, eventually, the senior national teams.

For many football lovers, the U16 stage is where future legends are born. With this strong team at the helm, the GFA hopes to uncover the next Abedi Pele, Asamoah Gyan, or Mohammed Kudus, ensuring Ghana’s football legacy continues for generations.
