Gunmen suspected to be arm robbers have shot and killed a middle age man at Baglahi, a farming community in the Wamali electoral area of the Tamale south constituency in the northern region. it is not clear what might have cause the attack.
Preliminary investigation by the northern regional police command reveals that he was shot on the chest and rips at Baglahi.
The unknown gun men according to the police took away all the deceased belongings including the motor bike he was ridding. The only item left with the deceased was his black crush helmet and blue gallon.
The deceased is believed to be returning from Tamale back to his community when he was attacked along Tamale-Yendi road.
The northern regional police are therefore appealing to residents living in communities along Yendi road to contact the police if any of their relatives have not returned home.
The Baglahi incident is the third gun incident in less than two days within the Tamale metropolis. The assemblyman for Wamali electoral area Ibrahim Abudu who led the police to the scene expressed shock about the incident.
He said something urgent needs to be done to prevent it from recurring. On what might have course the dead of the middle age man, Hon. Abudu said he suspect that arm robbers are behind the attacks.
He is however surprised that such incident is happing in the Tamale metropolis and called on all opinion leaders and the police have do something immediately about it.
The northern regional police Public Relations Officer of the Ghana police service, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh toldl Zaa News the police are investigating the incidents. He therefore appealed residents to be security conscious especially during odd hours.
He said even though there is police visibility in the metropolis, the police can’t be everywhere in the metropolis and urged residents to be cautious on their personal security.
Confusion at the forecourt of TTH mortuary
Confusion broke out at the forecourt of the Tamale Teaching Hospital between mortuary attendance, personnel of the northern regional police command and the assemblyman for Wamali electoral area over entry of a dead body into the morgue when the remains was brought to the hospital.
While the police and the assembly man insist they have gone through due process from the hospital authorities, the mortuary attendance say they cannot allow any dead body to go inside.
The hated argument lasted for about five minutes while the dead body was still in pick-cup at the TTH waiting to be off loaded.
It took the intervention of some relatives of patients at the hospital to calm down tempers. The mortuary attendance explained that they have a lot of unknown dead bodies at the morgue and the relatives are not coming for those bodies, hence they cannot longer take additional dead bodies.
The Morgue according to the mortuary attendance has four unknown dead bodies which have been brought by the police. When dust finally settles, the body was allowed into the morgue.
