The University for Development Studies (UDS) has commended the waste management giant, Zoomlion for their efforts towards the fight against the deadly coronavirus in the educational institutions.
The university described the disinfection and fumigation exercise of both public and private tertiary institutions as a useful exercise.
The Registrar of the UDS, Dr A.B.T Zakaria told Zaa News last Saturday at the university’s central administration that the disinfection has helped in securing the campus for both staff and students.
Zoomlion deployed its spraying vehicles and spraying gangs to the central administration and City campus to disinfect every corner.
The disinfection exercise was Zoomlion’s corporate social responsibility in the wake of covid-19.
Dr A.B.T Zakaria said even before the president announced certain measures including closure of public and private schools, UDS through its Director of Health Service came out with some safety protocols to ensure the safety of both staff and students.
On the impact of covid-19 on academics, Dr A.B.T Zakaria explained all universities has been affected badly. However, UDS has rolled out online teaching for post graduate students beginning Monday (today).
Dr Zakaria said authorities are in talks with the various Students Representative Councils leadership for online teaching of under graduates.
