The Chief Editor of Zaa Multimedia, Mr. Ibrahim Angaangmeni Alhassan, has delivered an inspiring and insightful lecture to media and communication students at Tamale Technical University, urging them to uphold ethics, practice empathy, and embrace innovation as they prepare to lead in the evolving landscape of digital communication.
Speaking on the theme, “The Role of Media and Communication in the 4th and 5th Digital Revolutions,” Mr. Alhassan described the ongoing technological shifts as a “defining moment in human history,” where the boundaries between the physical, digital, and biological worlds are constantly evolving.

“We are not merely witnessing to this transformation,” he declared. “We are the interpreters and architects of its meaning and consequences.”
Mr. Alhassan highlighted how the Fourth Digital Revolution, driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and 5G, has revolutionized the media landscape. He explained that while these technologies have enhanced the speed and reach of journalism, they have also introduced new challenges such as misinformation, algorithmic bias, and erosion of public trust.
“As communicators, our first duty is to uphold truth, maintain ethical standards, and cut through the noise with clarity and credibility,” he stressed.
Shifting focus to the emerging Fifth Digital Revolution, Mr. Alhassan emphasized its human-centered approach — one that prioritizes collaboration between people and intelligent machines, guided by values of dignity, inclusion, and sustainability.
“This is where your role becomes indispensable,” he told the students. “As journalists, content creators, and storytellers, you have the power to humanize technology, bridge societal divides, and shape a more compassionate digital future.”
Mr. Alhassan laid out a compelling roadmap to guide students in becoming responsible and visionary media professionals:
- Master Digital Tools – Learn to work with new technologies, not against them.
- Promote Digital Ethics – Uphold fairness, accuracy, and transparency in all communication.
- Tell Authentic Stories – Center your work on the lived realities and dreams of real people.
- Think Critically – Stay curious, question narratives, and fight disinformation with facts.
- Be Change Agents – Use your voice to drive social impact and foster peace.
Mr. Alhassan challenged the students not to stand on the sidelines of the digital revolution but to become leaders of thought and innovation.
“The future doesn’t belong to those who fear technology or follow trends blindly,” he concluded. “It belongs to those who will use these tools to uplift humanity, tell powerful stories, and build a more just and informed society.”
The lecture, organized by the Department of Media and Communications at Tamale Technical University, is part of a larger initiative to connect students with industry leaders and equip them with both the technical skills and moral compass needed in today’s fast-changing media environment.
