The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Bi-Awuribe, has assured the people of the Busunu Traditional Area that government remains committed to ensuring equitable distribution of development projects across the region.
Speaking at the Busunu Homecoming grand durbar, the Regional Minister said President John Dramani Mahama is determined to fulfil promises made to the people during the 2024 general elections.
Mr. Bi-Awuribe announced that construction of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Girls Senior High School at Busunu will commence in January 2026 and is expected to be completed within 18 months under funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
According to him, the STEM Girls SHS will comprise several modern facilities, including an assembly hall with a seating capacity of over 2,500 students, alongside academic and residential infrastructure to support quality STEM education for girls.
The Regional Minister further disclosed that the President has directed that the Fufuliso Junction–Sawla road be asphalted under the government’s Big Push Programme.
He also announced that construction works on the Fufuliso Junction–Daboya–Mankarigu road, which was halted under the previous administration, will resume in 2026.
Additionally, Mr. Bi-Awuribe noted that the Savannah Region is benefiting from the government’s plan to construct 1,000 kilometres of feeder roads nationwide, as captured in the Ministry of Finance budget.
On healthcare, the Regional Minister assured the Paramount Chief, Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpowu II, that plans are underway to upgrade the Busunu Health Centre into a polyclinic. He revealed that a Physician Assistant has already been posted to the facility as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
He also announced that the region’s only private teacher training college located at Daboya has been absorbed by the government and is now a public training college, a move expected to strengthen teacher education in the region.
Mr. Bi-Awuribe assured the chiefs and people of Busunu that all development proposals presented by the traditional authority have been forwarded to the President for the necessary action.
