Yendi, Ghana – The newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Yendi, Hon. Muniru Sugri, has wasted no time making his presence felt, launching bold initiatives aimed at tackling sanitation challenges and regulating the local transport sector.

In one of his first major actions since assuming office, Hon. Sugri led a collaborative effort between the Yendi Municipal Assembly and waste management giant Zoomlion Ghana to clear all major dumpsites in the municipality. The clean-up exercise, carried out last week, is part of a broader sanitation improvement agenda, despite what officials say are severe resource constraints inherited from the previous administration.

“Our commitment to a cleaner Yendi is unwavering. The people deserve better, and we will deliver, even if it means starting with limited resources,” the MCE is reported to have said.

Hon. Sugri also turned his attention to the transportation sector, holding a crucial meeting on Thursday with representatives of various transport companies operating within the municipality. During the engagement, he directed all commercial transport operators to immediately reduce their fares by 15 percent, in line with recent national fuel price adjustments.

He warned that a task force comprising municipal officials and police officers will begin monitoring compliance at all major lorry stations from Monday. Operators who defy the directive risk facing sanctions, including possible legal action.

“This administration will not compromise on regulations meant to ease the burden on our people. Transport fares must reflect current fuel prices,” Hon. Sugri stated firmly.

His proactive and hands-on leadership style has drawn widespread commendation from residents and observers, with many describing him as a “young prodigy” poised to transform Yendi and outperform his predecessors. The developments were initially reported by Amingos GH on Facebook and subsequently picked up by ZaaNews.
