IGP Special Operations Team Pays Courtesy Call on Sheikh Basha in Tamale

Tamale, December 1, 2025 — The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team has paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Basha, leader of Masjidul Bayan, as part of its official activities in the Northern Region.

‎The team, comprising 50 officers and led by ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil, visited the cleric to formally announce their operational presence in the Tamale Metropolis and to seek prayers and blessings for their mandate.

‎‎The delegation arrived with eight service vehicles, including a Black Maria, and was warmly welcomed by Sheikh Basha, several Imams, and community elders.

‎Briefing the religious leaders, ASP Abdul Jalil outlined the core responsibilities of the Special Operations Team, which include combating robbery, attacks on mobile money vendors, rape, illicit drug peddling, and other crimes of national concern.

‎Sheikh Basha commended the Ghana Police Service for its sustained commitment to crime prevention. He extended his regards to the IGP and assured the team of continuous prayers for the Police Service, the President, and the national leadership. He urged the officers to remain steadfast and act with professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

‎The courtesy call set the tone for a day of intelligence-led operations by the Special Operations Team across parts of the Tamale Metropolis
