The Tatale-Sanguli District Assembly has distributed items and funds to people living with disabilities under the 3% allocation from the District Common Fund. The District Social Welfare Director, Mr. Akurugo, announced that GHC 165,470 was spent on the initiative.
Beneficiaries received items like refrigerators, sewing machines, tailor machines, disabled bicycles, cash, and school fees support. Mr. Akurugu Sumaila Alagma highlighted that even a talented musician with a disability, pursuing music in tertiary education, received an organ to support his craft.

Mr. Akurugu Sumaila Alagma promised follow-ups to ensure the funds are used effectively, emphasizing the government’s focus on supporting people with disabilities.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr Alhassan Ahmed, representing the DCE, urged beneficiaries to use the resources wisely, so the government can provide more support. Beneficiaries, including a visually impaired man and a lady, Jennifer, expressed gratitude, saying the support has changed their lives.
One beneficiary Mr James Binditim noted that the government’s efforts show they value people with disabilities, contrary to some perceptions.
