Mobile telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has presented assorted items and cash to the Tamale Central Mosque in support of the Muslim community’s upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The donation, made in honour of the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Shaykh Abdul Salam Ahmad, included assorted drinks, bottled water, a ram, cooking oil, rice, and a cash amount of GHS 10,000.

Speaking during the presentation, the Tamale Main branch Manager for at MTN Ghana, Mohammad Shayawu, indicated that the gesture forms part of the company’s annual Ramadan outreach programme. He emphasized that Ramadan is a period of spiritual reflection and renewal for Muslims, and the company seeks to share in the joy of the season with its customers and the wider Muslim community. According to him, the initiative is carried out across four major locations—Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale—with this year’s Tamale event held separately due to logistical considerations.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Regional Chief Imam, Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, Abdulai Habibu Mohammed, expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for its continuous support over the past six years. He noted that the company’s consistent donations demonstrate its commitment to the Muslim community and assured that such contributions would go a long way to support underprivileged Muslims, particularly those who may face challenges in celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
