Bagabaga College of Education (BACE) has commissioned a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory for its Basic Model School to enhance digital education and practical learning among pupils.
The state-of-the-art facility, funded through the college’s internally generated funds, is equipped with 35 computers with internet connectivity to support the teaching and learning of ICT, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and robotics.
The commissioning ceremony brought together officials from the education sector, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and alumni of the college.
The Bagabaga College Model School, which started with only 32 pupils, currently has an enrolment of 361 students and a teaching staff strength of 34.
The school has distinguished itself academically, winning a Presidential Award and placing third in the 2025 National Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Competition.
Currently, 35 pupils of the school are undergoing coding training as part of efforts to equip them with relevant digital skills for the future.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Principal of Bagabaga College of Education, Professor Issahaku Gazali, reiterated the institution’s commitment to providing quality ICT education to pupils before they advance to secondary and tertiary levels.

He disclosed that the college, in collaboration with stakeholders, will construct a new school block within the college campus to relocate the lab to improve teaching and learning of ICT.
Professor Gazali stressed that exposing pupils to practical ICT education at an early stage would help prepare them for the rapidly evolving digital world.
A representative of the Sagnarigu Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Suleman Yakubu, commended the college for its investment in ICT education at the basic level.
He urged management to continue integrating modern technology into teaching and learning to produce digitally skilled learners capable of competing globally.
The Headmaster of the BACE Model School, Dumbo Halidu Ibrahim, expressed optimism that the new facility would further strengthen the school’s performance in STEM education.
He assured stakeholders that a management committee would be established to ensure the proper maintenance and sustainability of the laboratory.
Some of the students who spoke to the media expressed excitement about the facility, noting that it had exposed them to practical computer lessons and coding skills.
They thanked the management of the college for prioritizing their digital education and creating opportunities for them to excel in the technology space.
