The Vice Chancellor of Tamale Technical University (TaTU), Professor Bashiru I. I. Saeed, has called on alumni, staff, and the university community to support efforts in addressing the institution’s infrastructure deficit. He made this appeal during the university’s 7th matriculation ceremony, highlighting the urgent need for improved facilities to accommodate the growing student population and expanding academic programs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Saeed acknowledged the university’s notable achievements but emphasized that inadequate infrastructure remains a significant challenge. He urged all stakeholders to contribute in any capacity—whether through financial support, expertise, or innovative ideas—to help bridge this gap.

“As you may be aware, our university’s infrastructure has not kept pace with our growing student population and academic programs. This deficit hampers our ability to provide the best possible learning environment for our students and to expand our academic offerings,” he stated.

He encouraged alumni to give back to their alma mater, stressing that their support would create opportunities for current and future students. He also called on staff to contribute their expertise and ideas toward addressing the infrastructure needs. Additionally, he tasked deans and directors with working collaboratively to optimize resources and enhance the university’s infrastructure.

“I am happy to announce that the beneficiaries of this program will receive full tuition waivers to enable them to pursue their academic dreams without the burden of school fees. We pray that this initiative will continue to grow and expand in the future to enable the university to support even more deserving students and make a lasting impact on our communities,” he stated.

Advice to Freshmen

Addressing the newly admitted students, Professor Saeed urged them to uphold the principles of the Matriculation Oath and familiarize themselves with the university’s rules and regulations. He reminded them that their actions reflect not only on themselves but also on the institution’s reputation.

“As you settle into university life, remember that your actions reflect not only on yourself but also on the institution. Strive to promote the good name of TaTU and avoid any behavior that may tarnish its reputation,” he cautioned.

He encouraged students to take responsibility for their academic and personal growth, manage their time effectively, and remain committed to their studies.

The 7th matriculation ceremony marked the official induction of new students into Tamale Technical University, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to providing quality technical and vocational education for national development.
