Constituency executives of the NDC in the Mion constituency have said they will ensure the renewal of the mandate of the incumbent MP Dr. Ahmed Yakubu contrary to claims that he was no longer popular.
At a news conference in Tamale on Monday spokesperson for the group, Inusah Alidu said the people of Mion know that their progress and development will be better guaranteed by another four years of the incumbent MP Ahmed Yakubu.
A rival group last week held a news conference in Sambu and declared support for Ibrahim Tanko, a failed NDC parliamentary aspirant to stand as independent.
The group had said the incumbent MP Ahmed Yakubu did not perform to their satisfaction and needed to be replaced but the constituency executives say the MP had achieved some development projects.
Mr. Alidu mentioned building and renovation of school blocks, Nurses and Teachers quarters amongst others. The MP for the Mion constituency Dr. Ahmed Yakubu denied  claims that he paid his way for Ibrahim Tanko to be disqualified form contesting the party’s primary.]]>
