The Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Ya Na Abukari Mahama II has attributed the lawless and indiscipline in the country to lack of enforcement of the country laws.
The overlord comments came in the wake mayhem at some voter registration centers in the country.
The Overload said the laws are not applied to the fullest and hoodlums are capitalizing on the selective and discriminating applications of the law.
Ndan Ya Na also blame violence behavior in the country to shallow mindedness of the youth and abuse of drugs.
The Overload reminded the people of Dagbon that wishing someone you hate to die may not be the wish of Allah.
Ndan Ya Na stated this when the Northern regional director of NCCE, Alhaji Abdul Razak Saani presented a copy of vigilantism and other related offences act 999-2019 at the Gbewaa palace in Yendi.
In the view of the revered chief, if the laws in Ghana were to be working, there won’t have been interference by either traditional rulers, politicians so called influential people in the society.
The overlord was not happy that a known political party activities with ruling NPP in the Tolon Constituency openly issued a death threat and is still walking freely.
Such utterances among political activist who get away with their own unsavory comments Ndan Ya Na said emboldened others to do worse.
He warned that it has the tendency throwing the country into abeyance if the officialdom failed to act.
The Overlord was addressing officials of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and NORSAAC – civil society organization after receiving copy of vigilantism and other related offences act 999-2019 at Gbewaa palace in Yendi.
It was presented to him by Alhaji Alhaji Abdul Razak Saani, NCCE Director.
Ndan Ya Na made it clear that his palace do not tolerate holigalism and indiscipline and that several people have brought issues he considered criminal to the palace for intervention but was accordingly dismissed.
The Gbewaa palace, the overlord said, has already cautioned political parties to be decent in their campaigns because it is Allah who chooses a leader.
He thanked NCCE, NORSAAC and star Ghana Foundation for the path they have chosen to ensure peace in the country.
He cited his own son who got himself into trouble when he was the chief of Kpankpanu and when the matter came before, his son suffered the consequences for involving himself in a matter that do not concern him.
Ndan Ya Na reminded that no chief in his kingdom will intervene set free criminals and encourage the law enforcement agencies to carry out their work without fear or favor.
