One of Ghana’s leading financial institutions, GCB Bank PLC, has organised an MSME Clinic under its GCB MSME Caravan initiative in Tamale to strengthen the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The event, held under the theme “MSME Unlocked: Powering Ghanaian Businesses for Sustainable Growth,” brought together entrepreneurs, business owners and industry stakeholders to equip them with practical knowledge and financial solutions to support business expansion.

The clinic forms part of GCB Bank’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing the growth of Ghana’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which play a vital role in the country’s economy. Speaking at the event, Executive Head of Commercial and Business Banking at GCB Bank, Alhassan Idrisu Danaa, said the initiative is designed to understand better customers’ needs and co-create solutions that will help businesses grow.

He noted that one of the biggest challenges facing SMEs is access to finance, particularly the requirement for collateral. To address this, GCB has introduced an SME Business Loan of up to GH¢1 million without collateral for eligible businesses.

According to him, the bank has also expanded its digital services to enable businesses to receive payments, make transactions, issue invoices and improve operational efficiency through technology.

Mr. Danaa added that beyond financing, GCB is supporting entrepreneurs with business branding and capacity-building programmes to improve their visibility and competitiveness.

Chief Executive Officer of GBG Roofing and Constructions, Richard Azuri, described GCB Bank as a reliable partner that has contributed significantly to the growth of his business.

He said financing from the bank enabled his company to establish a roofing sheet manufacturing facility in Northern Ghana, creating more than 48 direct jobs and 58 indirect jobs for young people.

Mr. Azuri encouraged the bank to continue engaging clients through regular follow-up visits to ensure businesses receive continuous support to expand.

An agribusiness entrepreneur, Alhaji Junaid, also praised GCB Bank for its long-standing partnership with local businesses.

He said his company, which trades in cocoa, cashew, shea nuts and soybeans, has enjoyed over 15 years of banking with GCB, describing the institution as dependable in providing large-scale financing and effective liquidity management.

Alhaji Junaid welcomed the bank’s latest support package for SMEs, women and youth-led businesses, expressing confidence that increased access to finance would boost enterprise development and contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.
