Gbewaa palace reconstruction; Tampion Traditional Area Donates GHS 45,000 Towards Gbewaa Palace Reconstruction
The Tampion Traditional Area has donated GHS 45,000 to the Dagbon Development Fund (DDF) to support the ongoing reconstruction of the Gbewaa Palace, which is currently at its finishing stages. The donation was presented to the Fund, a sub-committee of the Dagbon Development Committee, during a brief ceremony held at the Tampion Chief’s Palace in the Nanton district.
Out of the total amount, GHS 40,000 was mobilised from households within the Tampion Traditional Area, an indigene of the area, Alhaji Mustapha, contributed an additional GHS 5,000, bringing the total donation to GHS 45,000.
According to the Secretary of the Tampion Chief’s Palace, Alhassan, the funds were raised through a collective community effort aimed at ensuring that the Dagbon Kingdom has a befitting palace.

He noted that earlier this year, the traditional area presented GHS 5,000 to the Fund and subsequently intensified mobilisation efforts, resulting in the additional GHS 40,000 contribution.
Speaking on behalf of the Regent of Tampion, the palace secretary expressed appreciation to the people of Tampion for their commitment and sacrifices toward the successful completion of the Gbewaa Palace reconstruction.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Dagbon Development Fund, Alhaji Nuhu Abukari expressed the committee’s gratitude to the Tampion Traditional Area for its continuous support.
He described the contribution as timely and encouraging. Alhaji Nuhu noted that the completion of the Gbewaa Palace rests largely on the collective efforts of the people of Dagbon and called on other traditional areas, sons and daughters of Dagbon, and well-wishers to emulate Tampion’s example.
He further urged traditional authorities to ensure that business operators, including herdsmen, within their jurisdictions also contribute towards the palace reconstruction project to help bring it to a successful completion.
