Jisonayili M/A Junior High School in the Sagnarigu Municipality has held a student leadership handover ceremony as part of activities marking the graduation of its final-year students.
In a show of gratitude and commitment to the school’s development, the outgoing senior prefects—supported by a vernacular levy—donated seven buckets of paint to help beautify the school.
Speaking at the event, an outgoing student leader said the gesture was meant to give back to the school that shaped them. “This school has given us knowledge, discipline, and guidance. As we leave, we felt it was important to contribute our small quota to improve the learning environment for our juniors,” the prefect said.

The ceremony brought together school authorities, teachers, parents and students. The outgoing prefects used the occasion to reflect on their tenure, encouraging the incoming leaders to lead with discipline and humility. “Leadership is about service. We urge our juniors to remain united and protect the good name of Jisonayili M/A JHS,” one of them advised.
In their acceptance speeches, the incoming Boys Prefect and Girls Prefect expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them, pledging to work closely with school authorities to promote discipline and peaceful coexistence. The Girls Prefect also urged students to take their studies seriously to achieve academic excellence.
Headmaster of the school, Mr. Sulemana Yakubu, commended the graduating students for their sense of responsibility. He described the paint donation as timely and impactful, noting that it would enhance the school’s learning environment. He urged final-year students to stay focused ahead of their upcoming examinations.
The ceremony ended with the formal handing over of leadership roles to the newly elected prefects, followed by goodwill messages from teachers and parents, who pledged continued support for the school’s development.
