Lieutenant Colonel Edmond Kwame Anane Lumor has officially been inducted as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the 6th Infantry Battalion (6BN) at Kamina Barracks.
The induction ceremony, held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, formed part of the First Quarter Religious Parade under the theme “Commissioned to Serve God and Humanity.”
The event brought together top military officials, government representatives, and civilians. An inter-denominational service was also conducted to boost morale and reinforce the commitment of officers to safeguarding Ghana’s territorial integrity.
Lieutenant Colonel Lumor, who previously served as the Second-in-Command of the battalion, takes over as the 37th Commanding Officer from Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Yao Agbeko.
In his inaugural address, Lt. Col. Lumor reaffirmed his commitment to national service, particularly within the battalion’s operational areas in the Savannah and Northern Regions.

He pledged to strengthen civil–military relations and improve the welfare of personnel and their families.
He identified chieftaincy and ethnic conflicts as key security challenges and expressed optimism that with support from regional security councils, the situation would improve. Outlining his vision, he emphasized the need to deepen collaboration between the military and civilian communities, while prioritizing the welfare of officers and their families.
He stressed that discipline would remain a core value under his leadership. “Every soldier must be prepared, physically and mentally, to respond to any form of security threats, internally or externally,” he stated.
He further cautioned personnel on the responsible use of social media, urging strict adherence to military regulations, and reminded them that the uniform symbolizes honour, sacrifice, and respect.
“As Commanding Officer, I pledge to lead with integrity and accountability,” he added.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo, urged the new CO to build trust among officers and within the communities they serve. “Authority is given, but respect is earned.

Be a moral leader and let integrity guide your decisions,” he advised, adding that the security
environment in Northern Ghana demands unity, discipline, and professionalism.
Northern Regional Minister, John Adolf John, also assured the military of government’s support in maintaining peace and stability, expressing confidence in Lt. Col. Lumor’s leadership.

The ceremony underscored the Ghana Armed Forces’ continued commitment to peace, security, and community engagement across the northern sector.
