The Tamale District Court one (1) presided over by Mr Anthony Asaah has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of owners of business operators, a perpetrators of a private school for failing to pay Social Security Contributions of their workers and submission of contribution reports.
The warrant was issued after the Social security and National Trust (SSNIT) dragged eleven managers and directors of business entities to the court. At a sitting on Friday, only two out of the eleven show up in court.
The failure of the nine to pay their workers and submit contribution of report to SSNIT contravene the national pension Act of 2008, Act 766 section 81 (B). The companies include three hotels-Modern City Hotel, Marriam Hotel and Salifu Memorial Lodge.
Presenting facts of the case, SSNIT prosecutor Mr Wedjong Ireneus said the Director of Modern City Hotel, Emmanuel Adjei has failed to submit Contribution Report (CR ) to SSNIT from January 2015 to May 2015 of his workers.
The Director of Salifu Memorial Lodge, Walter Kaledzi Kwame owns SSNIT 584.16 Ghana Cedis and also failed to submit contribution report from January 15 to May 2015 while Manageress of Mariam Hotel Fuseini Mariam failed to submit contribution report from February to April 2015.
The rest are Director of Abubakari Mahama Enterprise, he owns SSNIT 1,407.33 Ghana Cedis and also failed to submit contribution report from January to May 2015.
The Director of Celebrities Business Enterprise, Abudl Majeed Alhassan has also been ordered to appear before the court over his failure to submit his workers contribution report from November 2014 to April this year.
Director of Bright Star Art Works, Mahama Osman Billy the prosecution said owns SSNIT 770.16 Ghana cedis and March to May this year contribution has not been submitted.
Others are the Proprietor of Ayisha Memorial School, Alidu Abdallah, he is also expected to appear before the court over the same issue while the Manager of Presby Farmers Project Training Project, Akiskame Emmanuel own SSNIT 5,042.89 cedis and contribution report of July 2014-February 2015 not been submitted.
The contribution report contains names of workers of organizations and agencies, their salaries and SSNIT numbers.
