The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, has called for peace, unity and mutual respect ahead of the upcoming internal constituency elections in Nanung.
As a native of Bimbila, Mr. Rashid-Computer has a personal connection to the Nanung Constituency and a strong interest in its peace, unity and development. It is against this background that he is appealing to delegates, aspirants and supporters to ensure that the internal elections do not create divisions among the people or undermine the constituency’s collective progress.
In a message to delegates, aspirants and supporters, Mr. Rashid-Computer urged all contestants to campaign peacefully, focus on issues and avoid personal attacks that could undermine the unity of the people.
“Elections are about choosing leaders, but our unity as one people must remain stronger than our differences,” he said.
He encouraged aspirants and their supporters to respect differing opinions and allow party members to exercise their choices freely throughout the electoral process.
“Let us campaign with dignity, avoid insults and personal attacks, and respect one another’s opinions and choices,” he added.
Mr. Rashid-Computer stressed that regardless of the outcome, the people of Nanung would continue to share a common home and a collective interest in the development of their communities.
“No matter the outcome, Nanung remains our home, and we remain one people with one future,” he stated.
He further urged all contestants and their supporters to accept the results and work together in the interest of the constituency.
“Let us compete peacefully, accept the results, and work together for the continued progress and development of our communities,” he said.
The GIFEC Chief Executive expressed hope that the internal elections would be free, fair, peaceful, transparent and credible.
Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer is a public administrator, academic and political organiser from Bimbilla in Ghana’s Northern Region. His roots in Bimbilla and connection to the Nanung Constituency have deepened his interest in promoting peace, unity and responsible participation in the constituency’s electoral process.
He holds degrees in Criminal Justice, Public Administration and related fields, and is pursuing an LLB degree.
Mr. Rashid-Computer has served in several public service and political roles, including Deputy National Elections Director and IT Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Northern Regional Director of Elections, Regional Treasurer of the NDC, Northern Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency and Regional Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority.
His experience in electoral administration and public leadership, coupled with his roots in Bimbilla, informs his call for peaceful participation, respect for differing views and cooperation among stakeholders ahead of the Nanung constituency elections.
