Curfew Imposed on Walewale Contributes to Recent Break-Ins

0

Residents and business owners in Walewale have expressed growing concerns over rising cases of break-ins, attributing them to the ongoing curfew imposed on the municipality. The latest incident occurred on the night of Saturday, March 8, 2025, when thieves broke into Sec. Com Ventures at the Walewale Market Square and stole valuables worth millions of Ghana cedis.

According to reports, the incident happened between 8:00 pm and 4:00 am, when the curfew is in effect. The criminals allegedly forced their way into the premises and stole items, including television sets, gas cylinders, deep freezers, fridges, and various mobile phones.

The victim, Seidu Adam, who had recently stocked his two-in-one shop with new consignments, is calling on authorities to reconsider the curfew, arguing that it has made businesses vulnerable to theft. He lamented that restrictions on movement prevent traders from protecting their properties, allowing criminals to take advantage of the situation.

The incident has sparked concerns among business owners, who are urging security agencies to enhance patrols and take proactive measures to safeguard livelihoods during curfew hours. Many fear that if the situation persists, it could lead to significant financial losses and further insecurity in the municipality.
