The University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, is set to host Her Majesty Queen Nozizwe Pearl Mulela, Managing Director of Eswatini Bank and esteemed consort of His Majesty King Misuzulu KaZwelithini of the Zulu Nation, South Africa, for the 7th edition of its prestigious Africa Leadership Lecture Series.
Her Majesty will speak on the theme “Ethical and Transformative Leadership for Sustainable Development”, addressing a continent in search of new leadership paradigms. Her highly anticipated lecture, titled “Redefining Leadership for Africa’s Future: Ethics and Transformation,” is scheduled to take place on Friday, 25th April 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Dr. Andani Andan Academic Board Chamber, located within the Central Administration of UDS’s Tamale Campus.

In a press conference held ahead of the main event at the UDS Guest House, Queen Nozizwe Pearl Mulela elaborated on the purpose of her visit, shared insights on the themes of her upcoming lecture, and spoke passionately about Africa’s developmental trajectory amidst global complexity. She emphasized the urgent need for visionary leadership anchored in ethics, inclusivity, and long-term transformation.
Speaking at the press briefing, Vice-Chancellor of UDS, Professor Seidu Al-Hassan, highlighted the origins of the Africa Leadership Lecture initiative. He noted that the concept was first envisioned in 2011, but only became fully operational in 2013, aimed at promoting high-level intellectual engagement and showcasing exemplary African leadership.
Registrar of the university, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar, delivered the welcome address, expressing the institution’s pride in hosting such a monumental event and reaffirming UDS’s commitment to shaping leadership for Africa’s future.
The annual Africa Leadership Lecture Series continues to attract distinguished personalities from across the continent and beyond, serving as a platform for deep reflection on the role of leadership in Africa’s development.
