The Paramount Chief of the Kumbungu Traditional Area, Naa Nyeb Kumbungu Naa, has expressed confidence in the leadership of Lawyer Muhammad Mumuni, stating that the Northern Regional Council of State Representative will excel in his new role and contribute significantly to the development of the region. The traditional ruler made these remarks when Lawyer Mumuni paid a courtesy visit to the palace following his assumption of office.
Lawyer Muhammad Mumuni, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu and the 2004 presidential running mate to the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, visited the Kumbungu Naa’s palace to formally introduce himself after securing victory in the Council of State elections. Alhaji Mumuni emerged as the winner with a significant margin, defeating three other contenders.

He was accompanied by esteemed members of the Kumbungu Traditional Area, including elders and the Kumbungu District Assembly Coordinating Director. Upon arrival, Naa Nyeb Kumbungu Naa warmly welcomed Alhaji Mumuni, congratulating him on his well-earned victory and affirming his trust in his leadership abilities.
The Paramount Chief highlighted the numerous developmental challenges in the region and urged the new Council of State Representative to use his position to advocate for infrastructural development, improved education, and economic opportunities for the people of Kumbungu and the Northern Region at large. He emphasized that Alhaji Mumuni’s vast experience in governance and public service positions him well to influence key policies that will benefit the region.
In his address, Alhaji Lawyer Mumuni Muhammad reaffirmed his commitment to driving development in the Kumbungu District and the Northern Region. He assured the traditional leadership and residents that he would use his new role to facilitate strategic partnerships, attract investments, and push for policies that will bring tangible progress to the region. He further outlined his vision, emphasizing the importance of education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development as key areas of focus during his tenure.
Alhaji Mumuni also expressed his gratitude to the people of the Northern Region for their support and pledged to work closely with traditional authorities, local government officials, and stakeholders to ensure that the voices of the people are heard at the national level.
The visit concluded with traditional prayers and blessings from the Kumbungu Naa and his elders, wishing Lawyer Mumuni a successful and impactful tenure as the Northern Regional Council of State Representative.
