ZABZUGU, Northern Region – The Member of Parliament for the Zabzugu Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Umar, has donated modern classroom furniture to Sabare No. 2 D/A Primary School in a bid to improve teaching and learning conditions in rural schools across the constituency.
According to information gathered by Zaaghana.com, the donation was presented on behalf of the MP by the Zabzugu Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Alidu Bawah, together with some constituency executives. The items were officially received by the Headteacher of the school.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman Alidu Bawah conveyed a message from the Member of Parliament, indicating that the intervention forms part of a broader commitment to enhancing educational standards and ensuring that pupils study in a conducive environment.
He explained that the MP had personally visited some schools within the constituency and observed pupils lying on their stomachs while writing notes from the blackboard due to a lack of desks and chairs.
Describing the situation as unfortunate and unacceptable, Hon. Alhassan Umar reiterated his determination to eradicate such challenges and ensure that every child in the constituency has access to quality education under dignified conditions.
The chairman further disclosed that another consignment of modern school furniture will be presented to the Zabzugu D/A Girls Model Primary School later this week as part of the MP’s continuing efforts to improve educational infrastructure in the area.
Responding to the donation, the Headteacher of Sabare No. 2 D/A Primary School expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament, noting that the gesture had effectively brought an end to the school’s longstanding furniture deficit.
However, he appealed for additional support in the form of new classroom blocks to accommodate the increasing enrolment at the school, saying he wished to act like “Oliver Twist” by asking for more assistance.
Community members also lauded the Member of Parliament for his generosity and commitment to education, describing the donation as timely and impactful. They further pledged to protect the furniture and ensure that it remains in the school for the benefit of current and future generations of pupils.
