The Executive Committee of the Tamale South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted reports suggesting that youth gathered at the constituency office to protest against the exclusion of Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South, from the initial list of ministerial appointments.
In a statement issued by the Constituency’s Communication Officer, Issah Abdul Fatawu, the committee described the reports, published by Tamale News Agency and shared by Amigos GH, as “mischievous and false.” The statement dismissed the claims as “fallacious, malicious, and a well-designed ploy to tarnish the hard-earned reputation” of Honourable Haruna Iddrisu.
The committee clarified that no such protests occurred and urged the public to disregard the misinformation with “the utmost contempt and disdain.” They highlighted that the atmosphere at the party office was calm, with members watching a football match between Real Madrid and Mallorca.
To further debunk the reports, the committee shared pictures and videos depicting the peaceful activities at the office during the time in question.
Meanwhile, a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Nyankpala campus, Dr Mahama Seth Shaibu, has described the reports as palpable falsehood. The veteran journalist speaking in an interview with Zaa news accused the loyalists of the New Patriotic Party in Tamale of being behind the circulation of the fake news. The close associate of the Tamale South MP stressed the Tamale South MP and President John Dramani Mahama are brothers and have cordial working relationship. He therefore urged calm among the supporters of NDC in the Tamale South Constituency. He said Hon. Haruna Iddrisu will be an integral part of the President Mahama administration.
