Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress of the North East region Ibrahim Tia has tasked the government to address the security situation in the region.

According to him, security remains an important issue for the socio-economic development of countries all over the world and the North east region is no exception.

He said the government has the primary responsibility for the security of all persons under its leadership. He said the issue of security is paramount to the people of the region and the NPP government has that duty to protect the lives of the people in the area.

‘’We challenge the leadership of the NPP to fix the security situation in the region. On daily basis we record robbery cases on our roads which is affecting the socio-economic activities of the people, and the NPP being the government of the must protect the people’’, he said.

Mr Tia revealed that the roads between Walewale and Yagaba as well as from Walewale to Nalerigu records cases of armed robbery every 24 hours, which Mr Tia thinks is a collective responsibility to solving the menace. The situation he said hampers the economic activities of residents in the area. He said this at the North East regional Annual Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nalerigu. The NPP on October 1, began its regional delegates conference across all 16 regions in preparation to elect executives for 2024 general elections.
