MTN invest $300m to improve network
MTN Ghana has invested $300 million to improve network service between 2019 and 2020. The telecom giant committed also over GhS 100m to complement government’s efforts in fighting the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
An amount of 10.4million cedis were committed in their Cooperate Social Responsibility (CRS) on ten ongoing projects across the country.
The MTN Foundation sponsored in 200 scholarships for needs-based students who are currently in the various tertiary institutions.
Under its youth empowerment project, 100 out-of-school youth, including persons with disability, were trained on mobile phone repairs and provide them with kiosks and start-up kits to ply their trade.
To enhanced offers and improved customer experience, MTN Ghana promised to become a digital operator by end of 2023.
Corporate Service Executive of MTN Ghana Mr Samuel Koranteng who disclosed this at Northern Ghana Editors forum said over 200 educational sites with free access to MTN customers have been provided until the end of the pandemic. About 4.5 million customers Mr Koranteng added are also consuming over 150 Terabytes free data.
To enhanced offering in the Home and SME broadband segment within the 12thmonths period, the Cooperate Service Executive told stakeholders that 100,000 people were connected on wireless broadband.
