The Northern Regional Police command has commenced investigations into a suspected murder case that claimed the life of a 41-year-old man at Zagyuri in the Sagnarigu district. The body of the deceased, Richard Kwame Kwakye was found in an uncompleted building in poll of blood on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at about 6:pm.
The body of the deceased, whose family is yet to be identified, has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy. The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh told Zaa News that at about 4.00pm on Thursday, a gunshot was heard in an uncompleted house at Zagyurir opposite Kamina Barracks and on reaching the place, the police saw the deceased with penetrating wounds at the lower part of the left chest.
ASP Tetteh said, a locally- made pistol with some cartridges struck in the chamber was found lying about one and half meters away from the body.
An ID card folder containing a voter ID card bearing the name Richard Kwame Kwakye was also found in the deceased’s pocket, ASP Tetteh added.
The police and the forensic pathologist from the Tamale Teaching Hospital, ASP Tetteh said, are examining the items found at the crime scene to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of Richard Kwame Kwakye.
