Some residents in the Gushegu and Karaga districts in the northern region are appealing to government to construct the major roads linking their communities to the major cities.
The residents say, the inaccessible road network in the two districts are hampering the socio-economic development in the area.
The road from the northern regional town of Tamale to the two districts  which is about one and half hours drive according to commuters plying on the road is now taken them over two hours.
The over three routes from Tamale to the two districts during raining season are always inundated by water.
At Ga, one of the routes leading to the two districts, Zaa News spotted some commuters struggling to cross the road overwhelmed by water.
Even though some graveling and other maintenance works are ongoing, commuters say the roads are going from bad to worse and that if priority is not given, the economic activities would be negatively affected.
Some Community Base Organizations (CBOs) working in the district told Zaa News that, they have held several meetings with DCEs on the road network, especially overseas communities, but little is being done.
The only works on the road according to the CBOs are the construction of bridges and wants government to speed up road network projects in the districts.
When contacted the District Chief Executive for Karaga, Sulemana Hussein Issah said assembly is making efforts to construct feeder roads and bridges to all farming communities. He assured government's commitment to improving road infrastructure in the area.
